XUP Parent Newsletter

March 2008

" Jesus said, ' Abba, Father, for you all things are possible...' "

Dear Parents,

Holy Week is March 20 th – March 23 rd . This is one of the most important times in the church calendar. Many churches (Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, Full Gospel, etc…) have special programs for Easter that are designed to encourage spiritual growth in all of us. In today's world many of our children are confused and making wrong decisions. Your daughter needs to be continuously fed and nourished through the Eucharist and through the Word. Everyone needs a church home. If you do not belong to a church, we want to encourage you to seek out a church. Teenagers' lives are so complicated these days that they need the stability of a church home or a church parish. We have to teach our children that God IS the WAY!

There are many important activities this month. The end of the 3 rd quarter is Friday, March 7 th . Parents are asked to make sure that their daughters are on task and are studying. The Senior Thesis is a graduation requirement. Seniors need to be working to complete this.

Report card conferences will be held on March 19 th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. It is vital for all parents to pick up your daughters' report cards. If you are unable to attend, please ask an ADULT representative to be there for you.

Gym Night is March 15 th . This year the show will be special with Coach Jessie Evans as the coordinator. Coach Evans was the teacher who first brought Gym Night to the school many years ago.

The National Foreign Language Exam will take place on March 13 th and 14 th . Each year we have on the average of 18 – 20 students who finish with highest honors in this exam.

The UNO District Rally will be held on Saturday, March 15 th . Congratulations to those students who were selected to represent Xavier Prep.

The Junior Trip begins March 31 st and ends April 5 th . This trip has tremendous academic value. Students are allowed to visit some of the most prestigious universities in the country. We want the students to have a wonderful time. Please encourage your daughter to cooperate with the chaperones, obey the rules, and conduct herself like the refined young Christian woman you have raised her to be.

All returning students must register for the 2008-2009 academic year no later than

March 14 th . At that time every student who plans to return must pay half of the total registration fee. $250.00 is due on March 1 st - 14 th and the $250.00 balance is due on April 1 st - 15 th . All financial information was mailed to your home.

Also on April 16 th ALL FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS MUST BE MET. THIS IS PARTICULARLY IMPORTANT FOR SENIORS SINCE EXAMS WILL BEGIN MAY 12 th .

The senior Debutante Ball will be held on Sunday, March 30 th at the Crystal Palace . There will also be a Debutant Brunch on Sunday, March 9 th , at the Colonial Country Club . Deb Parents will receive a handout with all the particulars. Congratulations to those parents whose daughters will participate.

We are all very thankful to God for the many blessings He has so generously bestowed upon us and our children and students. May He continue to bless us, and may we continue to be faithful to Him.

Sincerely,
Carolyn Oubre
